Colts win the Cup

After a One Nil win for the Colts over Bilsthorpe Welfare at home, the final loomed in the Chad Supplementary Cup, against what had been a bit of a bogie team for the Colts; Beaufort United FC. The teams had met on four previous occasions in league and cup matches; each time United came away with the honours.
So, the stage was set for the Colts to finish their first season on a high note by collecting the silver ware. All that stood in their way was Beaufort United.
The final took place at
Prior to kick off, the Colts certainly looked more up for it than Beaufort, and once the whistle was blown it soon became obvious that the Colts were going to put up a good fight.
The Vale came out of the starting blocks with much more commitment than Beaufort; determined to reach the ball before the opposing team. Beaufort found it hard to settle, and didn’t take control of the game.
The Colts were awarded a free kick, which Liam Pashley struck sweetly past the keeper. One Nil, then came goals two and three, scored by Ben Hope and Ayden Lancashire. The whistle was blown and the Colts went in at half time three goals up, without Beaufort getting a shot on target.
Mark gave his half time talk; not quite believing the score whilst trying to prevent the lads from getting too carried away, focusing on what was needed in the second half.
As expected, Beaufort came out with much more purpose in the second half. They started to move the ball around more confidently starting to spend more time in the Colts half than before and consequently having a number of shots at the goal.
The Colts however, picked up where they left off, and added to their lead with a fourth goal, and the second for Ben Hope. That’s how it remained until the final whistle. Game over.
Carr Vale collected the silverware with a convincing and triumphant Four Nil win.

Winning the cup was a great end to the season for the lads’ managers, parents and supporters, with plenty of positives to be taken away from their first season together. Let’s hope that their success continues next season. “ Come on you Colts”
